Barceló Nasandhura Malé has officially opened, debuting the capital’s first five-star hotel.

Occupying a prominent seafront position with views over the Indian Ocean, the property is set to redefine the landscape of luxury urban hospitality in the Maldives.

The hotel, developed by Browns Investments PLC in partnership with Spain’s Barceló Hotel Group, stands on the historic site of the former Nasandhura Palace Hotel. It offers 136 guestrooms, many with ocean-facing aspects alongside 116 serviced apartments tailored for extended stays.

Strategically located opposite the Henveiru Ferry Terminal and within ten minutes' drive of Velana International Airport, the hotel seeks to serve both corporate and leisure markets, providing immediate access to Malé’s urban amenities and coastal attractions.

Barceló Nasandhura Malé includes over 1,000 square metres of flexible MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions) facilities, designed to accommodate corporate events, exhibitions, and high-profile gatherings.

The property’s dining portfolio comprises three restaurants, a snack bar, and BHeaven, a rooftop shisha lounge offering panoramic views of the city. The hotel also features Malé’s first oceanfront swimming pool, enhancing its appeal as an urban retreat.

Wellness facilities include a dedicated spa with six treatment rooms and a gymnasium overlooking the surrounding waters, catering to guests seeking relaxation and fitness.

The opening of Barceló Nasandhura Malé represents the group’s second entry into the Maldivian market, following the 2024 launch of Barceló Whale Lagoon Maldives, located near the whale shark marine protected area in South Ari Atoll.

With this latest addition, Barceló Hotel Group reinforces its strategic expansion across Asia, where it currently manages properties in Indonesia, Thailand, Sri Lanka, the United Arab Emirates, and Oman.
