The Ministry of Social and Family Development, in collaboration with the Business Center Corporation (BCC), has begun issuing the “Shamil Logo,” a national branding initiative designed to represent the creativity, productivity, and contributions of persons with disabilities.

The logo, which was introduced in 2025, aims to support the marketing of products created by persons with disabilities while promoting their inclusion and empowerment within society. BCC announced the launch of the logo’s issuance in information shared with the media today.

Under this initiative, products made by persons with disabilities can carry the Shamil Logo, allowing consumers to easily identify goods produced by this group. The branding is expected to help raise awareness and encourage public support, creating more opportunities for these individuals to generate income and strengthen their participation in the business community.

BCC stated that the initiative will make it easier for the public to support businesses run by persons with disabilities, while also enhancing their economic independence and expanding opportunities for growth.

To qualify for the use of the logo, applicants must be registered as persons with disabilities. Products submitted must be independently produced by the applicant. If the product requires official approval or licensing, valid permits must be in place. For food and beverage items, applicants must also obtain the necessary approvals required for production and sale in the Maldives.

Application forms for the Shamil Logo are available on the BCC website, bcc.mv. Completed forms can be submitted via email to [email protected], after which the application will be processed.
