The Addu Equatorial Hospital has opened applications for its medical internship programme.
The hospital is the first outside Malé to introduce a structured medical internship programme. A total of 15 internship positions have been made available under the current intake.
Applications for the programme opened on 1 April 2026 and will remain open until 25 May 2026 at 13:00. Interested candidates are required to submit their application forms within this period. Details on eligibility criteria, required documentation, and the application form have been published in the Government gazette.
The hospital stated that if the number of eligible applicants exceeds the 15 available slots, selection will be prioritised based on the date of completion of the MBBS degree, with preference given to those who completed their studies earlier. Additional consideration will also be given based on the order in which application emails are received.
To qualify for the internship, applicants must hold an MBBS degree issued by a recognised medical college or university. They must also possess a valid “Certificate of Provisional Medical Registration” issued by the Maldives Medical and Dental Council. Furthermore, applicants must have no criminal record within the past five years.
Applicants are required to submit attested copies of their MBBS certificate, accredited by the Maldives Qualifications Authority, along with an attested copy of the provisional registration certificate issued by the Maldives Medical and Dental Council.
The hospital stated that applications can also be submitted via email. Forms will be accepted on all working days, excluding official holidays, between 08:00 a.m. and 02:00 p.m.
Under national regulations, medical graduates are required to complete a one-year internship before becoming eligible for permanent service.
