Furugaan Mosque on Ameenee Magu has been vandalised early in the morning before morning prayers.

The damage was reportedly caused by a young man who often sleeps there and is believed to have been in a disturbed state of mind. Sources indicate that the individual has a history of similar acts of vandalism.

The man caused significant disruption within the mosque. Mushafs placed at the rear of the premises were scattered, electric boards and adaptors located near the imam’s area were destroyed, and several parts of the wudhu section was vandalised as well. Additionally, parts of the mosque’s interior were damaged and thrown onto the premises.

The incident was reported to local police, who visited the scene after morning prayers to assess the damage. Forensic personnel were also deployed. CCTV footage from the mosque is aiding the investigation, as authorities work to prevent future incidents.
