The Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC) has launched a nationwide competition inviting Maldivians over the age of 18 to design landmarks for prominent locations across the country, including Velana International Airport, Male’ City, underwater sites, and various islands.

This initiative aims to highlight the Maldives' unique charm, enhance the tourist experience, and promote local artistic talent.

Participants are encouraged to create designs that showcase the cultural heritage and natural beauty of the Maldives. A panel of judges, along with public voting, will select the top ten designs. Each winning designer will receive MVR 20,000, a gift package from sponsors, and the chance to have their work featured in MMPRC’s marketing efforts.

Designs must adhere to sustainability guidelines, be no taller than 20 feet, and reflect the historical significance of their respective locations. Key selection criteria will include safety, durability, and visual appeal. All entries must be submitted by 6:00 PM on November 30, 2024, and should include designs in both CAD and PDF formats, along with a completed application form.

This competition offers Maldivians a unique opportunity to shape the nation’s tourism landscape and brand identity, while also appealing to international visitors. MMPRC’s initiative highlights its commitment to establishing the Maldives as a premier tourist destination enriched with a vibrant cultural narrative.
