Fenaka Corporation Limited has officially been awarded the contract to install air conditioning units in all classrooms of government schools, as part of the Government’s "Cool School" initiative.
The contract agreement was formalised today at a ceremony held at the Ministry of Education. Dr Ismail Shafeeu signed on behalf of the Ministry, while Mohamed Najjah, Managing Director of Fenaka Corporation Limited, represented the company.
Under the terms of the agreement, the Ministry of Education has tasked Fenaka Corporation with completing the installation of air conditioning systems in all classrooms before the start of the next academic year. The contract is valued at MVR 54 million.
In addition to classrooms, the project’s scope also includes the installation of air conditioning in school halls.
The "Cool School" initiative was launched last year, with the initial phase beginning at Kaafu Maafushi School.
The decision to prioritise air conditioning in schools follows widespread student appeals during the recent presidential election campaign.
In response to these requests, President Dr Mohamed Muizzu pledged to ensure the installation of air conditioning systems in all government school classrooms nationwide.
