Maldives launched the official "Visit Dharavandhoo Year 2025" initiative on Thursday, unveiling an exciting program aimed at showcasing the island's cultural heritage and natural attractions as part of a broader effort to enhance local tourism in the Maldives. The launch event featured vibrant traditional music and dance performances by local students and youth groups, reflecting the island's rich cultural tapestry.

Dharavandhoo, located in Baa Atoll—a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve—offers visitors unique access to Hanifaru Bay, renowned for its manta rays and whale sharks, along with genuine Maldivian cultural experiences.

Visit Dharavandhoo Year 2025 is a celebration of our island's unique culture and biodiversity, with a strong focus on responsible tourism," stated Sameeh Ali, President of the Dharavandhoo Council. "We believe this campaign will attract travelers seeking authentic experiences, bolstering our local economy and protecting our environment for years to come.

The initiative's calendar includes a variety of events, such as workshops, the creation of an underwater coral park, cultural festivals, and a Manta Festival. Plans are also underway for a conservation project to establish a Manta Centre, in addition to eco-tourism activities and collaborations with local businesses.

Visitors can look forward to participating in guided marine tours, Maldivian cooking classes, traditional music performances, and island-hopping excursions.

The initiative promotes sustainable tourism practices, allowing visitors to enjoy the natural beauty of the Maldives while contributing to its preservation. More information will be shared through official channels as the campaign unfolds, inviting both international and domestic travelers to partake in this exciting year.
