Trans Maldivian Airways (TMA) has reaffirmed its position as a global leader in aviation, earning the title of World's Leading Seaplane Operator 2024 at the prestigious 31st Annual World Travel Awards.

Commenting on the accolades, TMA's Chief Executive Officer, A.U.M. Fawzy, highlighted the airline's dedication to excellence, stating that being recognised as the world's leading seaplane operator was a tremendous honour.

He noted that for the past decade, the company has consistently raised the bar for service and innovation. These awards, he emphasised, serve as inspiration for TMA to continue delivering exceptional travel experiences while bolstering the Maldives' global reputation as a premier luxury destination.

Fawzy further explained that the airline remains committed to redefining seaplane operations for the future in collaboration with its partners.

The event, held on 24 November, also saw TMA achieve its 10th consecutive win as Indian Ocean's Leading Seaplane Operator, a testament to its sustained excellence in the region.

Since its establishment in 1993, TMA has grown into a vital part of the Maldivian tourism landscape. Operating the largest seaplane fleet globally, TMA's 65-strong fleet of DHC-6 Twin Otter aircraft ensures seamless transfers across the island nation's 16 atolls. This includes 13 planes customised with resort branding and two tailored for VIP travel. On any given day, the airline conducts over 400 flights, serving more than 80 resort destinations.

TMA's commitment to operational excellence plays a crucial role in promoting the Maldives as a premier travel destination. The airline provides essential connectivity between international visitors and luxury resorts, supporting the country's tourism industry.
