The countdown to the opening of the new international passenger terminal at Velana International Airport (VIA) has officially begun, with the inauguration scheduled for July 26. Launched by MACL CEO Ibrahim Shareef Mohamed, the event marks the start of final preparations for what is one of the Maldives' largest aviation infrastructure upgrades. The new 78,000-square-metre terminal will significantly boost capacity to seven million passengers annually and feature modern amenities.
