The Government is transitioning A-Levels into the standard school-leaving qualification, reflecting President Dr Mohamed Muizzu’s broader vision of national development through human capital investment. Enrolment in A-Level programmes has surged, up 77 per cent since the launch of a pilot scheme, with expanded access, especially in remote islands, leading to improved academic outcomes. The reforms, supported by the Maldives National Service initiative, aim to create a generation that is both academically prepared and socially responsible.
