Maldives is set to welcome 2.4 million tourists in 2025, surpassing the projected 2.2 million arrivals stated in the 2025 budget, according to Tourism Minister Ibrahim Faisal.
Speaking on PSM News' Hafthaa 52 programme, Minister Faisal outlined the Government's plans to target new markets to further promote tourism.
"Being major markets, we have already made significant progress compared to previous years, and the gains from markets like China, Germany, and Russia have increased significantly," the Minister elaborated.
Currently, 1,797,028 tourists have visited the Maldives this year, marking a 9.2 per cent increase compared to the same period last year when 1,646,327 tourists arrived. To meet the year-end target, 353,673 additional visitors are needed.
Daily arrivals could reach 8,000 as the peak season continues, with the milestone of one million tourists achieved a month earlier this year, putting the country on course to exceed 2 million visitors by year-end.
