The Parliament has moved to extend the term of the ongoing session.

The Speaker of Parliament, Abdul Raheem Abdulla, stated that the session needs to be extended to complete important parliamentary work. He has proposed extending the session until 15 December. The work currently underway in Parliament includes several bills proposed by the Government and finalising next year’s budget.

The term of the Parliament can be extended through a vote among the members, a vote is scheduled for today.

The ongoing session is scheduled to end on 30 November 2024.
