The Ministry of Higher Education, Labour, and Skills Development has announced efforts to identify more opportunities for Maldivians to pursue higher education in Malaysia. This initiative was unveiled in a video statement by State Minister Abdul Raheem Hasan, shared on social media during an official visit to Malaysia.

The State Minister, along with senior Ministry officials, is engaging with Malaysian universities and educational stakeholders as part of the visit. The delegation aims to assess the opportunities available for Maldivian students and explore potential partnerships to expand educational access.

"This visit will allow us to meet various stakeholders, collect vital information about higher education opportunities, and discuss ways to create avenues for Maldivians in education and labour," Abdul Raheem Hasan said.

He also confirmed that the delegation would visit institutions where Maldivian students are already enrolled, strengthening existing ties. Furthermore, the officials will participate in the ‘Ideas Fair,’ a platform where educational and labour stakeholders convene to exchange ideas and promote collaboration.

The trip was organized at the invitation of Education Malaysia Global Services (EMGS), a government agency responsible for facilitating foreign students in Malaysia. EMGS has been instrumental in fostering Malaysia’s reputation as a hub for international education, a status reflected in its significant Maldivian student population.

Efforts to forge new connections align with the Ministry’s broader goals to enhance access to quality education and skill development for Maldivians.
