A high-level delegation from the Government of Japan visited the Maldives on 26 July 2025 to inspect projects developed with Japanese assistance.

The delegation was led by Parliamentary Vice-Minister for Foreign Affairs Ikuina Akiko, who represented Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba during the visit.

The programme included a tour of several sites, including the tetrapod monument at Usfasgandu in Malé City.

The Minister of Construction, Housing and Infrastructure, Dr Abdulla Muththalib, accompanied the delegation, along with senior officials from his ministry and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
