Two foreign nationals sustained injuries following an explosion aboard a boat in the lagoon of Alifu Alifu Maalhos around 8:45 p.m. according to the Maldives Police Service.

Authorities reported that the individuals were on the vessel when an unidentified object exploded. Both men were injured in the blast but escaped without life-threatening harm. They were initially treated at the Maalhos health centre and are being transferred to Malé for further medical care.

The cause of the explosion remains unknown, and police have launched a formal investigation. Forensic teams and relevant units are working to determine the nature of the explosive and any possible links to broader safety concerns.
