Guraidhoo MP Hanan Mohamed Rasheed has been appointed to the Parliament’s Public Accounts Committee, replacing Baarah MP Ibrahim Shujau, who has been removed from the committee.

The update to the committee’s composition was announced by Speaker Abdul Raheem Abdulla, who confirmed a number of changes across parliamentary committees. As part of the reshuffle, Shujau has been transferred to the Committee on National Development and Heritage. He takes the place of Feydhoo MP Ibrahim Didi.

Shujau's removal from the Public Accounts Committee comes amid the circulation of a document on social media, which claims to be a report prepared by the Financial Intelligence Unit of the Maldives Monetary Authority (MMA) concerning his company. The Maldives Police Service has stated that it is currently investigating the matter.

A meeting of the Public Accounts Committee was held earlier today, with representatives from the Maldives Monetary Authority (MMA) in attendance.
