The Maldives Meteorological Service (MET) has issued a White Alert for areas from Haa Alifu Atoll to Thaa Atoll, warning of strong winds and rough seas as the southwest monsoon continues to affect the country.

The alert, first issued earlier today from 9:45 a.m. to 1:45 p.m., was later extended until 7:45 p.m. MET reported sustained winds of 19 to 24 miles per hour, with gusts reaching up to 45 miles per hour, and rough sea conditions are expected across most regions.

Authorities have advised travellers and seafarers to exercise caution until conditions improve. According to the forecast, the weather is expected to clear from Thursday, with current conditions attributed to active southwest monsoon activity.
