Member of Parliament for Baarah constituency Ibrahim Shujau has been removed from the Parliament’s Committee on State-Owned Enterprises and replaced by the Member of Parliament for Ihavandhoo constituency Ahmed Naseer.

The change was announced on Tuesday by Speaker of Parliament Abdul Raheem Abdulla, who also detailed adjustments to other parliamentary committees. In the Judiciary Committee, Member of Parliament for Huraa constituency Dr Anara Naeem was replaced by Member of Parliament for Vilifushi constituency Hassan Waheed.

MP Shujau was removed from the Public Accounts Committee on Monday and replaced by Guraidhoo MP Hanan Mohamed Rasheed. Following these changes, he has been appointed to the Committee on National Development and Heritage.

His removal from the Public Accounts Committee follows the circulation on social media of a document said to be a report by the Financial Intelligence Unit of the Maldives Monetary Authority (MMA) concerning his company. The Maldives Police Service and the Anti‑Corruption Commission (ACC) have confirmed that the matter is under investigation.
