Former Prosecutor General and judge Uz Muhuthaz Muhusin has said that the return of Justice Uz Abdulla Hameed and Justice Uz Abdul Ghanee Mohamed to the Supreme Court is evidence that justice will always prevail.

Uz Muhuthaz made the comments in a post on X, where he shared a photograph of Justice Uz Abdul Ghanee taking the oath of office as the fifth Chief Justice of the Maldives. In the accompanying statement, he described the role of a judge as more than just a job, but a responsibility that must be carried throughout one’s life.

He noted that both Justice Uz Hameed and Justice Uz Abdul Ghanee Mohamed were dismissed while serving as judges under the previous Government. Despite the allegations made against them at the time, Uz Muhuthaz said that neither defended themselves publicly, nor criticised the judiciary in the media.

According to Uz Muhuthaz, their decision to remain silent was a deliberate choice to protect the value of the judiciary. He described their conduct during that period as a demonstration of true judicial discipline.

Uz Muhuthaz stated that Justice Uz Abdulla Hameed now serves as an honourable judge of the Supreme Court, while Justice Uz Abdul Ghanee Mohamed has been appointed as the fifth Chief Justice. He said that the return of both judges to high office illustrates their enduring love for the judiciary and their faith in the institution.

He stated that their reinstatement stands as proof that justice will always prevail.
