The State Trading Organization (STO) has brought in a new fuel shipment to the Maldives, as global oil markets continue to experience volatility.

Speaking to MMTV, STO confirmed that the shipment arrived in Malé on Saturday, adding that there are currently no disruptions to fuel supply in the country. The company stated that existing stock levels are sufficient to meet national demand.

In addition to fuel, STO is also working to import further shipments of cooking gas to support ongoing demand.

Despite recent increases in international oil prices linked to tensions in the Middle East, STO stated that it has decided not to revise domestic fuel prices at this time.

The company noted that fuel prices at Fuel Supplies Maldives (FSM) outlets in the Malé area, as well as at STO-operated fuel sheds across the atolls, will remain unchanged.

STO added that efforts are ongoing to ensure a stable supply of petrol and diesel while avoiding additional financial pressure on the public.

The company further noted that, following earlier adjustments in response to global market changes, no further revisions have been made to petrol and diesel prices to date.

To support price stability, the Government is working to utilise a portion of STO’s projected dividends to help offset fuel costs.
