Baa Atoll Kendhoo leaders have called for targeted improvements to infrastructure, public amenities, and health services during a meeting with President Dr Mohamed Muizzu at the Kendhoo Island Council Secretariat.

The Island Council, Women’s Development Committee, and heads of local institutions requested the establishment of a boatyard and an industrial zone, resumption of mosque construction, and the installation of lighting and expansion of the football ground. Concerns were raised over harbour and land reclamation projects, with an emphasis on preserving the island’s natural landscape during road development.

Other priorities included improving waste management facilities, upgrading the power station network, and resolving space constraints at the Health Centre, alongside the appointment of a specialist doctor.

President Dr Muizzu, accompanied by Cabinet Ministers and senior officials from State-Owned Enterprises, assured that the Government would consider the proposals and work towards practical solutions, while providing updates on ongoing development projects.
