Baa Atoll Thulhaadhoo Island Council has called for urgent progress on a number of local development priorities during a meeting with President Dr Mohamed Muizzu today.

At the discussion, held at Thulhaadhoo School, council members stressed the importance of designating a nearby island for residents’ picnics and leisure activities, urging the Government to expedite the process. They also pushed for the acceleration of two major projects - housing construction for local residents and the completion of the island’s court building. Other concerns included the urgent supply of spare parts for the island’s power plant and the creation of a handball court.

Heads of local institutions also raised pressing needs. Officials from Thulhaadhoo School called for repairs to school facilities and the recruitment of additional administrative staff, while representatives from the Thulhaadhoo Health Centre requested more personnel to improve services.

In response, President Dr Muizzu assured the community that the Government would review the concerns raised and work towards practical solutions. He also provided updates on ongoing development initiatives for the island.

The President was accompanied by Cabinet Ministers and senior officials from State-Owned Enterprises as part of his current tour of Baa Atoll.
