Baa Fehendhoo Council has presented a list of key development priorities to President Dr Mohamed Muizzu during his visit to the island.

During the President’s trip to Fehendhoo, he met with the island council and the Women’s Development Committee (WDC), and heads of local institutions to address the island’s pressing development needs. The meeting was held at Fehendhoo School.

The council outlined several infrastructure requirements, including urgent measures to address coastal erosion, leveling the futsal court, constructing a modern-standard volleyball court, and allocating land for development. They also raised concerns about the island’s bridge, which has tilted to one side, stressing the need for an immediate fix. Additionally, the council requested that water and sewerage works be expedited.

Other concerns included the need for a new mosque and the difficulties posed by having only one imam on the island.

President Dr Muizzu assured the community that he would address the issues raised. Cabinet Ministers and senior officials from State-Owned Enterprises accompanying him also provided updates on ongoing projects for the island.
