Members of the Baa Fulhadhoo Island Council have discussed with President Dr Mohamed Muizzu the need to address coastal erosion, enhance water and sanitation facilities, and create affordable accommodation for those travelling to the island for work. They also emphasised the importance of introducing laboratory services to Fulhadhoo.
The meeting, held at the Fenaka Fulhadhoo Branch office, brought together the Women’s Development Committee (WDC) and heads of local institutions alongside the council.
Representatives from participating institutions pointed to the necessity of upgrading the island’s harbour and electricity grid to meet current demands.
The council additionally highlighted the need to construct an outdoor volleyball court to provide recreational opportunities for local youth.
The President assured the council that the issues brought forward would be reviewed. Cabinet Ministers and senior officials from State-Owned Enterprises who attended the meeting also gave updates on development projects currently under way for the island.
