Delays in water and sanitation works topped the agenda during a meeting between President Dr Mohamed Muizzu and members of the Kihaadhoo Council, the Women’s Development Committee, and leaders of various local institutions.
Council members pressed for urgent measures to address the stalled projects, which they said were essential for improving the quality of life on the island. They also called for upgrades to the island’s electricity supply, including relocating the power plant away from residential areas, and highlighted the need to resolve overcrowding at Kihaadhoo School by expanding facilities and adding a science laboratory.
Additional proposals included revising the RTL ferry route to better serve Kihaadhoo, providing a dedicated picnic island, supplying an ambulance to the health centre, and tackling space shortages at the health facility.
President Dr Muizzu said the Government would review all concerns raised and outlined updates on ongoing development initiatives, with ministers and State-owned company representatives present to provide further details on current projects.
