Minister of Homeland Security and Technology Ali Ihusaan has reaffirmed the Government’s commitment to strengthening the Maldives Correctional Service (MCS) by equipping it with the resources and skilled personnel needed to carry out its mandate effectively.

In a message marking the 54th anniversary of the MCS, the Minister stated that the current Administration is actively working to expand facilities and develop the professional capacity of the institution. Efforts include building necessary infrastructure and fostering specialised expertise within the correctional system.

He emphasised the MCS’s critical role as a state institution responsible for the rehabilitation and reintegration of inmates, highlighting the national responsibility to provide appropriate care and support for prisoners so they can return to society as productive citizens. Officers were encouraged to continue performing their duties to the highest standard in the service’s history.

Looking ahead, the Minister expressed confidence in the service’s future, noting that the coming year is expected to bring further successes.
