A 64-year-old woman has passed away following a road accident in Laamu Kadhdhoo on Friday evening.

The accident occurred at around 7:18 p.m. when a motorcycle travelling from Laamu Fonadhoo to Gan collided with two pedestrians crossing the road near Kadhdhoo Airport, according to the Maldives Police Service.

Four people were injured in the accident, including the two women who were crossing the road and the two men riding the motorcycle. The 64-year-old woman sustained serious injuries and was taken to Laamu Gan Regional Hospital, where she later passed away while receiving treatment.

Police said they are investigating the incident.
