Visit Maldives Corporation has announced that it is serving as the Destination Partner of the first Thoddoo Masters Table Tennis Tournament (TMTT), currently underway in Alifu Alifu Thoddoo from 19 to 25 August 2025.

The tournament was officially inaugurated by President Dr Mohamed Muizzu and is organised by Thoddoo Local Authority Company (TLAC) in partnership with Ihaa Table Tennis Academy (ITTA).

The event has brought together 120 international and local players aged 35 and above. Matches are being held at Thoddoo’s multi-purpose school hall across six age categories, including over-70s, with competitions in singles, doubles, and mixed doubles.

Participants from India, Russia, China, Germany, Spain, New Zealand, and the United States are taking part – the first time such a diverse line-up has competed in the atolls.

Visit Maldives Corporation CEO and Managing Director Ibrahim Shiuree said the tournament reflects the Maldives’ commitment to expanding its tourism horizon. He noted that supporting international events such as TMTT helps position the country as more than a leisure destination, highlighting its potential as a hub for sports, wellness, and lifestyle experiences.
