The Maldives Police Service has confirmed the arrest of three people in connection with the alleged murder of Abdul Rahman Adam from Alifu Alifu Maalhos.

Abdul Rahman was found with critical injuries on 13 July 2025 and later succumbed to his injuries.

Police have not released the identities of the suspects, though they are believed to be residents of Maalhos. Their arrest follows searches carried out on 10 August, when officers raided three homes on the island and seized clothing as part of the investigation.

Abdul Rahman’s body was transported to India for a post-mortem examination, which concluded that he had died as a result of head injuries.

As Maalhos does not have a permanent police presence, a specialised investigative team has been deployed to the island to pursue the case.
