The Ministry of Social and Family Development has announced a competition to design an official logo aimed at marketing and selling products manufactured by persons with disabilities in the Maldives.
The initiative, launched in collaboration with the Business Centre Corporation (BCC), offers a cash prize of MVR 5,000 for the winning design. The selected logo will become the official brand under which products made by person with disabilities will be packaged, labelled, and promoted across the country.
According to the ministry, the competition seeks a design that reflects Maldivian culture and identity, represents the community, and can be scaled for multiple uses. Submissions must avoid anti-Islamic imagery and ensure clarity across both colour and monochrome formats.
While the contest is open to the public, special emphasis will be given to entries submitted by individuals with disabilities registered with the National Social Protection Agency (NSPA). Entries will be judged on creativity, relevance to the objectives, and practical usability.
The Ministry of Social and Family Development noted that the winning logo will be its intellectual property, with minor adjustments made if necessary, without altering the original essence of the design. Officials added that the initiative will provide a stronger platform for persons with disabilities to showcase their skills, boost sales, and participate more actively in exhibitions. Submissions close on 25 September 2025, with the winning logo scheduled to be announced on 30 September 2025, as detailed in the Government Gazette.
