STO and Makita commemorate 25 years of partnership

State Trading Organisation (STO) and Makita have celebrated 25 years of partnership with a ceremony held at Kurumba Maldives Resort.

The event brought together distinguished guests, including Japanese Ambassador to the Maldives, Ishigami Rumiko, STO Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Shimad Ibrahim, and Takashi Omote, Marketing Director and Corporate Officer at Makita’s International Sales Headquarters.

As part of the celebration, Makita unveiled its latest tools and provided attendees with the opportunity to experience them first-hand in a dedicated demonstration zone.

Addressing the gathering, STO Construction Solutions Director, Mohammed Iman, spoke about the strength of the 25-year collaboration between STO and Makita and extended his gratitude to customers for their continued support.

The ceremony also recognised longstanding customers who have maintained close business ties with STO and Makita. A commemorative plaque was presented to several organisations, including Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL), Housing Development Corporation (HDC), State Electric Company (Stelco), Maldives Ports Limited (MPL), Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC), Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF), Universal Hawks Pvt Ltd, ALIA Constructions Pvt Ltd and SJ Constructions Pvt Ltd.

In their remarks, Takashi Omote and Ambassador Ishigami Rumiko highlighted the enduring relationship between Makita and STO, noting its positive impact on the construction industry in the Maldives. The Ambassador further observed that the partnership has also contributed to strengthening relations between Japan and the Maldives.
