Tradenet Maldives Corporation has announced that it has signed agreements with nine local councils to digitise their services. The company revealed this development while briefing the State-Owned Enterprises (SOE) Committee in Parliament on its ongoing initiatives.
The Government is currently undertaking a programme to digitise all services offered by state agencies. Tradenet has been at the forefront of this effort, developing a platform designed to connect oneGov, services, and state agencies in a unified system. This platform aims to provide citizens with access to all Government services from a single point.
Within this framework, Tradenet is focusing on digitising the services delivered by local councils. Fuvahmulah City Council is currently providing its services through oneGov. Tradenet Managing Director Saeeda Umar informed Parliament that the company began work last year to integrate the councils into oneGov.
According to the Managing Director, the company’s efforts have led to agreements with nine councils, while work continues to streamline their services and integrate them into the system. Additionally, discussions are underway to connect more councils with oneGov, with 40 councils having expressed interest. A dedicated team is working with the target to digitise all councils by 2027, in line with Government objectives.
