Haa Dhaalu Finey Island Council has highlighted the expansion of the harbour development project, relocation of the school, and road upgrades as urgent needs by the during discussions with President Dr Mohamed Muizzu.
The meeting, held at the Secretariat of the Finey Island Council, also included the Women’s Development Committee (WDC) and heads of local institutions on the island.
The Council also raised the importance of installing electricity cables in both the tourism zone and newly populated areas, while emphasising the need for a new council office building to address administrative constraints. Calls were also made for the development of a modern futsal ground, with members noting that the existing turf facility was no longer fit for use.
Responding to the concerns, President Dr Muizzu assured that the Government would give careful consideration to the priorities identified and work towards practical solutions. He also provided updates on ongoing projects already underway for the island. Cabinet Ministers and senior officials from State-Owned Enterprises accompanied the President at the meeting and engaged with the Council and WDC on ways to advance Finey’s development.
