The Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) has been contracted to carry out a land reclamation and shore protection project in Haa Dhaalu Naivaadhoo, valued at MVR 82 million.

The agreement was signed on Monday in Naivaadhoo during President Dr Mohamed Muizzu’s tour of Haa Dhaalu Atoll.

Minister of Construction, Housing and Infrastructure Dr Abdulla Muththalib signed on behalf of the Government, while MTCC Managing Director Ahmed Saudee signed on behalf of the company.

The project involves reclaiming seven hectares of land and building a 619-metre stone revetment, with completion expected within one year.

Speaking to island residents, President Dr Muizzu stated the Government would prioritise the initiative, adding that it would boost Naivaadhoo’s economic development and deliver wide-ranging benefits to the community.
