Construction has commenced on a new mosque in Haa Dhaalu Nellaidhoo, which will accommodate 500 worshippers.

President Dr Mohamed Muizzu visited the island as part of his ongoing tour of the atoll.

The project was inaugurated by the Minister of Islamic Affairs, Dr Mohamed Shaheem Ali Saeed, with President Dr Muizzu in attendance.

According to the Ministry of Islamic Affairs, the mosque will be equipped with solar power installations and air conditioning, and will also include a library and classroom as part of the development.
