An extraordinary parliamentary sitting has been scheduled for Wednesday, despite Parliament currently being in recess.
The Parliament Secretariat has yet to release the agenda for the sitting.
Parliament went into recess on 20 August following the conclusion of its second session of the year. The session officially ended on Tuesday, after a total of 27 sittings amounting to 46 hours of debate. Committees also held 127 meetings, which collectively lasted more than 91 hours.
During the session, 24 bills were introduced, though only seven were passed. Notable legislation included amendments to the Thalassaemia Control Act, revisions to the Decentralisation Act, the Maldives Intellectual Property Office Bill, the Insurance Bill, and amendments to the National Payment Systems Act.
The third and final session of the year is due to commence in October.
