The Ministry of Construction, Housing and Infrastructure has advised residents of Haa Dhaalu Hirimaradhoo not to make any changes to land registration, including transfers, divisions or consolidations, as preparations are underway to relocate the community to Haa Dhaalu Hanimaadhoo.

The Government finalised the relocation plan in March this year following requests from residents of Hirimaradhoo. During a meeting with the community on 24 August, President Dr Mohamed Muizzu assured that all families migrating from Hirimaradhoo would be provided with both a house and a land plot in Haa Dhaalu Hanimaadhoo, along with financial support for relocation.

According to the Ministry, residents who currently own a house will receive a house in the new settlement, while those who own only land will be allocated a plot with a building. The Ministry said the project will ensure that no resident is left without a home once the relocation is complete.

To implement the project, the Ministry of Construction has signed a framework agreement with the Housing Development Corporation (HDC). Under the agreement, the corporation will conduct detailed surveys, identify municipal infrastructure needs and prepare a comprehensive cost study and budget.

The Ministry stated that the relocation process is expected to be completed within 18 months.
