The High Court of Maldives has announced a one-month recess from 1st to 31st December.

Despite the recess, judges have resolved to continue addressing certain types of cases during this period, ensuring that time-sensitive and legally mandated matters are not delayed.

According to the High Court, cases requiring expedited resolutions—such as those prescribed by law to be time-bound—will proceed during the recess. Trial courts will also handle adjudications for fast-tracked cases to ensure timely justice.

The Supreme Court of Maldives will similarly observe a recess from 1st December to 1st January, as mandated by the Judicature Act. However, the Supreme Court clarified that hearings would not be conducted during this time unless specifically required by the Constitution or law to address a matter within a defined timeframe.

Although hearings will pause during the recess, both courts will maintain essential administrative operations, including case acceptance and other routine functions.
