Fahi Dhiriulhun Corporation (FDC) has made significant strides in its 4,000 housing units project, thanks to the more efficient and thorough approach taken under the current Administration, according to the company’s Managing Director, Hamdhan Shakeel.
Speaking on MMTV's Bodu Khabaru programme, Hamdhan highlighted the substantial improvements in both the speed and quality of work on the 4,000 housing units. He emphasised that, in just the first five months of this Administration, the company has completed nearly half of the project — 47% of the total work, compared to just 38% progress in the 22 months by the previous administration.
One of the most notable achievements, Hamdhan said, is the increase in productivity: during the first five months of this Government, FDC laid 231 slabs, surpassing the previous administration’s total of 216 slabs in 22 months.
Hamdhan had previously noted that delays in the housing project were caused by the failure to make timely payments. However, he confirmed that the outstanding USD 11.5 million was settled within the first six months of the current Administration, enabling a significant acceleration in the pace of construction.
The contract for the development of 32 towers, which will house a total of 4,000 units, was awarded to two Indian companies, KPIL and NBCC, in 2021. The project includes 2,800 three-room apartments and 1,200 two-room apartments.
FDC is now focused on completing the entire project, including all 4,000 flats, by July 2025.
