A groundbreaking ceremony was held in Thaa Kandoodhoo for the construction of a new Island Council Office, officiated by Minister of Cities, Local Government and Public Works Adam Shareef Umar and attended by President Dr Mohamed Muizzu. The project, contracted to Rasheed Carpentry and Constructions (RCC) under a contractor financing policy, includes building new council offices in 55 islands. Valued at MVR 631 million, the initiative is part of the Government’s plan to redevelop outdated council offices in over 100 islands in the next five years.
