The agreement for the Thaa Hirilandhoo Harbour Development Project was signed on 24 September 2025 between the Ministry of Construction, Housing and Infrastructure and the Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC), with Minister Dr Abdulla Muththalib and MTCC Managing Director Ahmed Saudee signing on behalf of the company. The project is valued at MVR 156.49 million and scheduled for completion in 780 days. The works include harbour dredging, construction of a 594-metre L-block quay wall, a 516-metre outer rock wall, 88 metres of groynes, a 688-metre revetment, installation of 20 street lights and two harbour lights, as well as pavements and a drainage system.
