The Government has contracted Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) to undertake a land reclamation and harbour development project in Thaa Veymandoo. The agreement was signed between Minister of Construction, Housing and Infrastructure Dr Abdulla Muththalib and MTCC Managing Director Ahmed Saudee, during President Dr Mohamed Muizzu’s visit to the island.

Under the project, 25 hectares of land will be reclaimed, and the existing harbour will be redeveloped and expanded. Officials said the development will ease land shortages in Veymandoo and create space for industrial and community growth, with work expected to commence soon.
