Fifteen senior officers from the Maldives Police Service have departed for China to attend a senior leadership seminar in Haikou, Hainan Province, marking a significant step in strengthening the service's policing capabilities.

The two-week intensive programme, 'Seminar for Intermediate Senior Police Officers,' hosted by China's Ministry of Public Security, aims to strengthen law enforcement capabilities and foster international police cooperation.

According to Police Media, the delegation includes key leadership figures: Superintendent of Police Rahma Saeed, Chief Inspector of Police Mohamed Dhimham and Nasrullah Jaleel, alongside 12 other officers.

The training programme, which runs until December 14, combines modern policing techniques with traditional practices, ranging from fraud prevention to cultural elements including Chinese calligraphy. The curriculum includes sessions on leadership development, public engagement strategies and martial arts training through Tai Chi self-defence methods.

During the programme, officers will study Chinese President Xi Jinping's legal philosophy, police strategy and leadership principles. The training will conclude with practical sessions in investigation techniques, SWAT tactics and community outreach programmes.
