A Dubai court has ordered Dubai-based Executors General Trading to pay USD 2.4 million to the Maldivian government for failing to deliver ventilators contracted during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The ruling follows a prolonged legal battle after the company failed to supply 75 ventilators as agreed in a contract signed with the Ministry of Health on 2 April 2020. Out of the total order, only 15 substandard ventilators were delivered, which the Health Ministry later rejected.

The government subsequently demanded a refund of USD 2 million, which was never repaid.

The Maldives International Arbitration Centre had earlier ruled in favour of the government, directing the company to pay the refund and compensation for breaching the contract. However, Executors General Trading did not comply with the decision, prompting the Attorney General’s Office to escalate the matter to a Dubai court.

On 7 October 2025, the Dubai court ruled that the company must pay the Maldivian Government within seven days or face further legal enforcement.
