VP urges Volleyball team to maintain nation’s honour at CAVA Cup 2025

Vice President Uz Hussain Mohamed Latheef has encouraged the Maldivian national men’s volleyball team to give their best performance and bring honour to the nation as they prepare to compete in the Central Asian Volleyball Association (CAVA) Men’s Cup 2025 in Dhaka, Bangladesh.
The Vice President bid farewell to the team at a ceremony held this evening at the Social Centre. He commended the players for their dedication and hard work in training, and expressed confidence that their participation would strengthen the Maldives’ presence in regional volleyball.
Highlighting the Government’s continued commitment to advancing sports, Vice President Latheef stated that initiatives promoting athletic excellence and international exposure are vital to the nation’s sports development.
Minister of Sports, Fitness and Recreation Abdulla Rafiu, along with senior officials from the ministry and the Volleyball Association of Maldives, also attended the event.
The Maldives national men’s volleyball team will compete in the CAVA Men’s Cup 2025, scheduled to take place in Dhaka, Bangladesh, from 22 to 28 October 2025. As part of their final preparations, the team will hold a training camp in Thailand from 10 to 17 October.
The Vice President expressed optimism that the team’s participation will elevate the sport’s profile within the country and serve as an inspiration to young athletes across the Maldives.
