The Elections Commission of Maldives (ECM) has publicised the register of eligible voters for the upcoming referendum on changes to the composition of the Addu City Council, scheduled to be held on 25 October 2025. The Commission has also opened the list for complaints.

The decision to hold the public referendum was made by the Cabinet on 5 October, following a petition submitted by residents of Addu City. The referendum will be conducted under the Public Referendum Act, in line with a Presidential Decree issued to determine the proposed changes to the Council’s composition.

According to ECM, a total of 9,577 individuals are eligible to vote in the referendum. Of this, 2,348 voters are registered in Meedhoo, 2,874 in Hulhudhoo, and 4,355 in Feydhoo.

The Commission stated that the voters’ list has been made public and that complaints will be accepted until 3:00 p.m. tomorrow. Submissions must be made using the official complaint form, available on the ECM website and at the Commission office, or by email at [email protected].

A total of 18 ballot boxes will be set up for the vote, including seven in Malé.
