Consultation meetings have now been held in 50 per cent of the Maldives’ inhabited islands as part of the drafting process for the country’s 20-year National Development Plan, Viluntheri Raajje 2045.
The nationwide consultation process, which began on 17 September, is scheduled to conclude later this month. Discussions have so far been completed in Addu City, Fuvahmulah City, and the atolls of Haa Alifu, Vaavu, Alifu Dhaalu, Gaafu Dhaalu, Meemu, Laamu, and Lhaviyani.
According to the Government, Viluntheri Raajje 2045 will outline a long-term vision for national development over the next two decades. The plan will take into account demographic trends, lifestyle changes, environmental sustainability, infrastructure needs, and technological advancements expected to shape the Maldives’ future.
