The Parliament has unanimously approved the appointment of Aishath Azeema as the Maldives’ Ambassador to Kazakhstan and Masood Imad as the Ambassador to Mauritius. The decision followed nominations submitted by President Dr Mohamed Muizzu and was passed without objection by members present at the sitting.

Ambassador Azeema, currently serving as the Maldives’ Ambassador to India, will now take on the additional role of non-resident Ambassador to Kazakhstan. Ambassador Masood Imad, who is the Maldives’ Ambassador to Sri Lanka, has similarly been appointed as non-resident Ambassador to Mauritius.

The Foreign Relations Committee reviewed the nominations before tabling them for parliamentary approval, in line with constitutional requirements for the appointment of ambassadors. The appointments were approved during the first sitting of Parliament’s third session of the year.
