President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has announced that the construction of classrooms at Shaviyani Goidhoo School will be completed by the start of the next academic year.
Speaking to residents of Goidhoo during his ongoing visit to inhabited islands, the President said the project had been halted when the current administration took office. He explained that the previous contract was terminated and reassigned to Fenaka Corporation to ensure timely completion.
President Dr Muizzu noted that materials for the project will be delivered to the island within a week, with work expected to conclude by the end of the current academic year.
He also revealed plans to hand over a two-storey, 20-bed building by the end of next month, with construction work set to begin later this year. In addition, next year’s budget will include the development of a football field, a volleyball court, and a handball court.
The President further stated that efforts are underway to provide electricity to local farmers and to address the mosquito issue in collaboration with relevant authorities.
Emphasising his Administration’s commitment to delivering tangible results, President Dr Muizzu reaffirmed that the Government’s foremost priority is to honour its pledges to the people. He added that his frequent island visits aim to directly engage with communities and better understand their concerns and priorities.
