Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL) has announced that all operations at Hanimaadhoo International Airport will be relocated to the ground floor of the newly built terminal starting tomorrow.

According to MACL, the decision comes as part of preparations for the official opening of the new terminal on November 9.

The move is also linked to operational adjustments required for the airport’s new runway, which will accommodate Code C aircraft in compliance with Maldives Civil Aviation Authority (MCAA) standards.

To obtain full runway clearance, MACL stated that high structures near the runway must be vacated and dismantled.

MACL confirmed that the island council and relevant agencies have been informed of the operational shift. The company is currently in the final stages of preparing the terminal for service, including equipment testing, staff training, and system readiness checks, to ensure operations meet both national and international standards.

The Operational Readiness and Airport Transfer (ORAT) process is now underway to ensure a smooth transition before the terminal’s official inauguration.
